MAD SPIRIT

Founder and Designer

November 2017-Present

During my first semester of college, I started painting sneakers for personal enjoyment and gradually, due to my continuous effort and a surprising high demand, I found a niche in creating wearable art. Overall, being an entrepreneur has provided me with a unique set of skills. I have developed a critical- and analytical-thinking mindset capable of approaching problems from different angles in order to maximize efficiency. In other words, I discovered an outlet that allows me to express my creativity through art, as well as my business savviness by thinking of methods to bring new customers and further expand the company along with its product line. Although running a business as a full-time student has been challenging, I have savored every moment.

FOUNDATION FOR PUERTO RICO

Marketing and Communications Intern

May 2019-July 2019

I had the opportunity to intern with the Marketing and Communications team at Foundation for Puerto Rico. Overall, this experience was very fulfilling for me both personally and professionally. I saw first hand why teamwork is the key to success in any organization. Whether it was with senior executives or fellow interns, I thrived working in these team settings because of my outgoing and social personality. Furthermore, I learned that working with a diversity of people only further augments productivity and personal growth.

V2A CONSULTING

We Serve Fellow

July 2020-August 2020

I participated in a virtual pro-bono consulting fellowship program at V2A Consulting and worked alongside a team of two other fellows, two mentors and one partner to create a strategic plan for a micro-enterprise in the hospitality industry in Puerto Rico. My assignments ranged from developing a comprehensive fact-based current assessment for understanding our client’s position in the market, to analyzing its reservation records to provide recommendations for diversifying revenue potential. Altogether, the fellowship was an excellent development experience, where not only did I learn many crucial aspects about strategy development, but also received a deeper insight into the socio-economic situation of Puerto Rico.

With a simple desire of creating wearable art, I began exploring the idea of customizing friends’ sneakers back in 2017. After casual social media posts about my creations, I started receiving new requests from people outside my circle. Going through a process of self-exploration to truly understand what I wanted my brand to stand for, the sneaker designs turned to the iconic Air Force 1’s due to their versatility. Merging meaning with abstraction, as well as high fashion with streetwear has always been the goal. Finally, in May 2018, Mad Spirit was born.

I aim to shift away from the binary. With Mad Spirit, I create essential pieces that can be part of any way of life. There is a duality in my designs, including customized sneakers as well as clothing items, of bold and minimalist statement apparel that can speak to all styles, characters, and forces. My mission is to develop a culture of encouragement and integrity, that fosters diversity and equality.

What makes you you? What do you find attractive? How do you want to step out into the world? You’re in the right place for this search.

Let's collaborate. Let's cross boundaries. Let's encourage others to navigate this journey with us too.
